Speaking - Monologues - Y3.05-06

Talk about the last book you read for 2 minutes. Mention facts about the book (title, author, genre), about the content (poems/story/novel/essay) and explain why you liked it or not.

You're with some foreign students in a foreign country. For 2 minutes, talk about your usual place of residence. Mention what people are like, places & activities, pros and cons of living there.

You've got a very special person in your life you want to tell us about. For 2 minutes, describe how/when you met, what he/she is like, and conclude with what makes her/him special for you.

In 2 minutes, tell a friend about a farewell party you organized for a colleague at work or a friend at school. Say who went, what you did, and how people felt. Give a concluding remark.

Talk about your traveling experiences for 2 minutes. Mention places, people, some event and your thoughts about it all.

For 2 minutes, comment news items you have heard or read about lately. Describe the news and then comment.

You have a problem with a friend. In 2 minutes, explain what it is, its causes, the ways in which you think you could solve it.

Talk about how to keep an apartment clean for 2 minutes. Mention cleaning and organizing and end up giving some useful advice.

For 2 minutes, talk about an anecdote your life. Mention where, when, who, what, why/how. What happened afterwards. What your relationships told you about it, and/or what you learned about it.

You meet an old school friend. It's been a lot of years since you last saw each other. For 2 min. tell her/him about your life & lifestyle now (relationships, occupation, free time).

For 2 minutes, talk about information and communication technology (ICT). Mention what you actually use (e-mail accounts, websites, chat rooms, forums), what for/why, pros or cons. Compare your life before and after those advancements.

You're ill and a friend of yours wants to know all about it. Talk for 2 minutes about how or when you got it, what's wrong (illness), what you are doing to get well, and finish up mentioning what you plan to do to avoid getting ill again.

For 2 minutes, about TV programs in your country. After a general introduction, focus in your favorite programs or the programs you're more critical of. Finish up posing what you'd do if you could change decide on TV programs.

For 2 minutes, talk about what you would do if you won the lottery. What would happen the next day you knew? How would you organize your life then? Would your relationships change? Do you think you'd be happier than now?

In 2 minutes, explain your job to some foreign people who have come to visit. Describe how/when you got this job, what you do (or which are your responsibilities), who you work with. Explain whether you're happy or not with it.

For 2 minutes, talk about advantages and disadvantages of living where you live. If it's a urban landscape, compare it to the rural--or the other way round. You can mention housing, employment, services, transport, social life, leisure, the weather...
